Invitation for meeting ,,…Katyń in the family memory”

The upcoming “Łambinowice Museum Meetings”, schedule to take place online on 21 April (5 p.m.), will be dedicated to the victims of the Katyn Massacre. One of the thousands Polish officers killed by the NKVD, was Lieutenant Kazimierz Ściślewski (1905–1940). His life, carefully reconstructed by his family, will be presented by Urszula Gawor (who is an officer's daughter, president of the Katyn Family Association in Opole), and her son Jerzy in a conversation with Dr. Renata Kobylarz-Buła, deputy director of the Museum. The historical commentary was prepared by Monika Sobczak from the Education and Exhibitions Department.

The story about a man… Katyń in the family memory is not held coincidently in April which is considered to be the month of national remembrance (especially the one related to the period of the Second World War). Neither, the day of the meeting is not a coincidence – it falls on the anniversary of the death of the Polish officer (he was murdered on 21st or 22nd April 1940).

To see a transmission [link] from the meeting (via Museum’s Facebook) you are invited by the President of the Association of Friends of the CMJW, Dr. Iwona Konopnicka, and the Director of the Central Museum of Prisoners-of-War, Dr. Violetta Rezler-Wasielewska. Honorary patronage over the "Łambinowice Museum Meetings" is held by the Mayor of the Commune of Łambinowice, Tomasz Karpiński.
