Educational tour in the footsteps of Warsaw insurgents

From 5 to 6 July 2022, employees of our Museum went on an educational trip as part of Freedom is in them. Warsaw Insurgent 1944-2022 project. Its aim was to get to documents, photographs, objects and records related to Warsaw insurgents.

The visited institutions were not chosen at random but were connected with, among others, the figure of Capt. Witold Pilecki who is the protagonist of the brand-new publication by Dr. Piotr Stanek, and Barbara Lewandowska to whom, in turn, a book by Dr. Violetta Rezler-Wasielewska will be devoted. Both will be published by the end of this year.

Among the visited institutions and places were: The Pilecki Family House Museum in Ostrow Mazowiecka, the Museum of the Cursed Soldiers and Ex-Political Prisoners of the People's Republic of Poland, as well as the Warsaw Rising Museum, the KARTA Centre Archive and the Powązki Military Cemetery in Warsaw.

The trip was possible thanks to funds from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage as part of the Multiannual Programme "Niepodległa" for 2017-2022.
