Earth Day at the Site of Remembrance – report

The Site of National Remembrance is an area with plots of land that have several owners including the areas managed by the Tułowice Forest Inspectorate or, like the war cemeteries, by the Łambinowice Community. The Museum, together with these entities, cares about preserving the tangible heritage of Łambinowice in the best possible condition.

Earth Day, falling on 22 April, was a good opportunity to involve the local community in this action. The result of the action of the Site of Remembrance clean-up, in which the children from the Heroes of the Struggle with Fascism Public Primary School in Łambinowice (supervised by Edyta Golec) and volunteers - citizens of the Commune, took part, was spectacular and disheartening at the same time. A group of the Museum workers, accompanied by the above-mentioned group of volunteers, filled a total of 26 big waste bags - mainly with bottles and other post-consumer leftovers, but car parts, for example, were also found abandoned in the forest. The compromising find was reported to the Forestry Inspectorate.

The event concluded with a joint refreshment under the shelter. Piekarnia&Cukiernia Ryszard Szymański in Korfantów, Ewa and Adam Merda, owners of Zakład Przetwórstwa Mięsnego Merda s.c. from Konradowa near Nysa, Edyta Misz from Łambinowice - Maxim Lewiatan Market shop, Jolanta Mierzyńska, director of the Community Centre for Culture, Sports and Recreation in Łambinowice, and PHU Komunalnik Sp z o.o. from Nysa contributed to its organisation, as well as to the preparation of the entire event. Thank you very much!

We would like to say thank you to all participants of the action. You can be counted on!
