Director of the Museum at the museological conference in Poznań

On 1-3 June, at the National Museum in Poznań is being held a conference entitled Museum of the 21st century. The 100th anniversary of the 1st congress of Polish museum in Poznań. Our museum is represented by the director, Dr. Violetta Rezler-Wasielewska, who attends the meeting on 1-2 June.

One hundred years ago, at the Poznań Museum, met representatives of 16 then existing  museum institutions from seven locations of newly reborn Polish state. During the three-day convention, they held three sessions and passed 16 resolutions. One of them concerned the establishment of the Union of Poland’s History and Art Museums.

The remainder of that event was a national conference organised by: the National Museum in Poznań, National Museum of Agriculture and Agricultural-Food Industry in Szreniawa, and the Museum of the First Piasts at Lednica.

The aim of the meeting, as it was stated by the organisers, was to assess the Polish museology of the past century, and especially to present of the role played by Greater Poland museums in shaping the realm of culture and heritage, as well as to discuss challenges the Polish museums face at turn of the third decade of the 21st century.
