Culture Night 2022. Invitation to the Museum!

This year's edition of Culture Night will take place in the coming Friday (24 June). As part of the coordinated by the Department of Culture, Tourism and Foreign Cooperation of Opole City Office event, you can visit as many as 35 places – one of them is the Opole seat of our Museum.

All of those who visit our Museum in Opole at 3 Minorytów Street, between 5 and 11 p.m., will  have the opportunity to see the following exhibitions: The Site of National Remembrance in Łambinowice – the regional, national, European heritage and Mascot Animals in the Polish Armed Forces in 1918-1945. At this time, having in mind especially youngsters, there will be broadcast in a loop, a 10-minute animated film Wojtek the Bear together with a quiz (with prizes!). For board games lovers we offer a game about Wojtek the Bear, a nice corporal of the 2nd Polish Corps from the WWII period.

From 6 to 8 p.m., children can take part in interesting art workshops called Wojtek! Help us find our way home.

At 8 p.m., a 45-minute lecture entitled The Archaeology of Crime - Sources, Methods, Potential will begin. Dr. Dawid Kobiałka will be talking about modern methods and techniques of archaeological research, which are more and more often used in the context of discovering and documenting material remains of prisoner-of-war, labour, concentration and extermination camps.

After dusk, at 9 p.m., in the Museum courtyard is planned the broadcast of the Museum's short feature films making up ...but that’s a different story now series. Each of them features a fascinating story of an object and a person – but not necessary limited to wartime. Some of the artefacts will be possible to be seen on display in their original form, and those of you who are observant enough, might win prizes.
