Continuation of cooperation with PODN Wodzisław Śląski

Today, once again, we presented the Museum's offer to the teachers participating in events organised by the District Teacher Training Centre in Wodzisław Śląski (PODN).

As part of the "Spring Methodical Meetings" series, Dr. Anna Wickiewicz and Michał Jakubik, employees of the CMJW's Department of Education and Exhibitions, presented an educational offer of classes to use at the temporary exhibition "Daddy, when will you come back?’ Polish Families in the Years of World War II". The exhibition, which is the result of the educational project "Children write letters", features, among other things, selected examples from a rich collection of Polish soldiers-turned-prisoners-of-war of the Wermacht, with their families. It is supplemented with camp pictures and other interesting objects made in POW camps, such as cards or fairy tales prepared by fathers-prisoners-of-war for their children who remained in occupied Poland.

The speakers also presented scenarios for activities related to our latest educational exhibition "Place with a Scar", which was created in 2021 on the site of the former prisoner-of-war camp Stalag 318/VIII F (344) Lamsdorf.

We would like to say thanks to the staff of PODN in Wodzisław Śląski: Iwona Miler (headmistress) and Michał Kopczyński (history consultant) for organising this event. In previous years (2020, 2021), we jointly organised webinars, which also met with great interest from teachers.
