Conservator’s work at the Site of National Remembrance

In the last week (19 of October), a representative of the Opole District conservator of monuments, in presence of the museum officials, accepted of this year restoration works conducted at the Site of National Remembrance in Łambinowice and this way approved the correctness of the final stages of the works.

In the partially preserved huts of the former Stalag 318/VIII (344) Lamsdorf, the acceptance concerned the the rainwater drainage system from inside the buildings. In each of the segments boreholes were made, 3 meters deep. In autumn days, with exceptionally heavy rainfall, gave the opportunity to test that solution that turned out to be very effective.

Also, visible progress is made in the Old POWs Cemetery. After restoration, 800 crosses of the Romanian soldiers from World War I, were returned there. At the other part of the cemetery, graves and their surroundings were renew.
