Conservation work in practice

Saving monuments and objects of the past is a fascinating job which requires a good deal of knowledge and extended practical skills. We would like to send our wishes to all of you who are involved in protection of monuments by returning them to their previous looks and, at the same time, ensuing that appropriate protection standards are met.

The collections of our Museum, which undergo regular conservation treatments, are considered to be one of the most valuable and largest in Poland. They consist of objects related to the fate of soldiers of the anti-Hitler coalition and places of their detention during the Second World War. The collections also consist of memorabilia of Polish soldiers detained in the NKVD camps in the USSR and those who were interned in neutral countries. A crucial part of the collections constitutes also testimonies of the complicated history of Lamsdorf, which dates back to the time before and after WWW II. The custody of the achieve documents and collection of books is safeguarded by the Archive Department in Opole, and the memorabilia are cared for by the Department of Collections and Conservation in Łambinowice.
