Conference on ‘Muzeometr - an integrated system of parametrisation of museums - stage I’

Representative of almost 200 Polish museums met at The Museum of Polish History, Warsaw, for a conference, organised by the National Institute of Museums (NIM) entitled 'Muzeometr - an integrated system of parametrisation of museums - stage I'.

The event took place on Thursday, 7 December, and was addressed to the museums that participated at the survey that the NIM conducted in October this year as a follow-up of the 'Museometer' research and implementation project. The attendees had the opportunity to acquaint themselves with the principles of the prototype algorithm developed as a result of the first stage of the project and the interpretation of the results of the survey. We were represented by Director Dr. Violetta Rezler-Wasielewska.

It is worth mentioning that the NIM has been implementing the 'Museometer' since 2021. It is doing so in cooperation with University of Social Sciences and Humanities (SWPS University), supported by experts from the Information Processing Centre - National Research Institute. The object behind this interesting idea is to develop an objective model for calculating the minimum amount of funding for museums that guarantees the proper implementation of their statutory responsibilities. The projected algorithm will be able to serve as a tool for optimising the functioning of the museum and building its workforce, taking into account the specific nature of the collections and statutory activities.

Our Museum was included in the core group of 10 surveyed museums, later enlarged to 13 Polish museums, representative of the others in many respects, e.g. in terms of size or specificity. From the Opole Region there were also the Museum of the Silesian Piasts in Brzeg invited to participate in the study, while the Museum of the Opole Village in Bierkowice has been already included in the project.
