Conference in Zgorzelec

Yesterday (8 December), the Memory, Education, Culture Foundation in association with Meetingpoint Memory Messiaen E.V organised a conference on 'European narratives of the Second World War / The duty to remember'. It was attended (online) by Museum Director Dr. Violetta Rezler-Wasielewska.

The event entitled "Prisoners-of-war camps as places of memory and local education" was organised as part of the conclusion of the 'To Know and to Understand. Memory in the name of the Future. Development of educational networks and civil society in the Polish-Saxon border region" INTERREG project. It was also an opportunity to present the results of the project and its partners, viz.,the Memory, Education, Culture Foundation (lead partner and also host of the event), Meetingpoint Music Messiaene.V., Internationales Begegnungszentrum St. Marienthal, Stadtverwaltung Görlitz, Förderkreis Görlitzer Synagoge e.V., the Municipality of Zgorzelec and the Zgorzelec Community.

The conference programme also included interesting panel discussions and speeches by the invited guests, including Museum Director Dr. Violetta Rezler-Wasielewska, who delivered a lecture on "(No)Memory and Responsibility".
