Commemorative event at the Site of National Remembrance in Łambinowice - invitation
One of the most important event on the Museum calendar – commemorations of the liberation of Stalag 344 Lamsdorf - is approaching. On 18 March, we will meet in front of the Monument to the Martyrdom of Prisoners-of-War to mark together the events happening here 79 years ago.
The commencement of the ceremony is schedule for 12.00. Persons who will come by their own cars might leave their vehicles on the square near to the Monument to the Martyrdom of Prisoners-of-War. As an alternative, we provide free coach transportation. We will leave from the car park in front of "Toropole" on Barlickiego Street in Opole at 10.45 a.m., and return to Opole is planned for about 3 p.m. You can book your place by 16 March. Individuals and delegations wishing to lay wreaths are asked to inform us about this by the same date.
The programme of the ceremony includes:
- singing the national anthem,
- speeches
- prayer
- roll call of remembrance
- gun salute,
- laying of wreaths and lighting candles
The ceremony enjoys the honorary patronage of Minister of Culture and National Heritage Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz, Opole Voivode Monika Jurek, and Marshal of the Opole Voivodeship Andrzej Buła. The event is also under the media patronage of TVP 3 Opole, Radio Opole S.A., Radio DOXA, "Nowa Trybuna Opolska" and "Nowiny Nyskie". The ceremony will be accompanied by the 1st Logistics Battalion from Komprachcice.
