…but that’s a different story now

Let us inform that soon, from January 25, we will commence the presentation of short films, lasting from 3 to 5 minutes, which our Museum has prepared as a series entitled ... ,,but that’s a different story now”. The series is made up of 12 episodes presenting – through the history of an museum object – the fate of a prisoner-of-war, his family, as well as the activity of the Museum in the sphere of preservation of museum objects and popularization of national heritage.

On the last Monday of each month, we will present an episode of this interesting series on our Facebook and YouTube. We will start from ,,A caseket from the Oflag”. The titled casket is a gift from captivity of Lieutenant Andrzej Mystkowski to his beloved wife Krystyna living in the occupied country – an object donated to the Museum by their son Jan Mystkowski. In the following months, you will learn more fascinating stories related to prisoners-of-war correspondence, sketches, watercolours, a portrait, jewellery, notes in the pocket of a military blanket or a piece of cloth which was turned into a skirt in captivity, and was later given to  the Museum as a blouse. These richly illustrated stories are told by relatives of former POWs, current and retired CMJW employees, and others who helped turn POW memorabilia into museum pieces.

The series have been prepared by us at the end of 2020 thanks to the "Culture Available" programme of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, from which the Museum received funding of 25, 000 PLN.
