Another donation
A personal photo with a dedication, and the identity card of Able Seaman Władysław Dębski, soon will find their place in the museum inventory. They have been donated to us by Magdalena Ney, granddaughter of the former prisoner-of-war of Stalagu XIII A Nürnberg.
During World War II, Władysław Dębski served in the Riverine Flotilla of the Polish Navy in Pińsk (now a town and port in Belarus). He was taken into captivity on 22 September, 1939, in Brześć (Brest), receiving POW number 21152. In June 1940 his status had changed to forced civilian worker assigned to the Regensburg Labour Office (Regensburg). After the war, before his return to Poland, he had stayed in Germany till 1947. From that period comes the donated to us identity card, a document issued to prisoners-of-war by military departments of the Polish Armed Forces in the West.
The memorabilia were passed to us thanks to the help of Dr. Sławomir Frątczak, head of the Katyń Museum, a martyrology branch of Museum the Polish Army in Warsaw.
We would like to thank Ms. Magdalena Ney and Mr. Sławomir Frątczak!
