Almighty Lady – second episode of the series … but that’s a different story now
As promised before, throughout 2021, on every last Monday of the month, we will present new instalments of the ,,... but that’s a different story now” series. Today, simultaneously with the premiere on the Museum's Facebook page, we are also making the second episode available here. It is entitled Almighty Lady.
The film, by presenting one of the largest philatelic collections of the Museum, tells the story of the help given by Helena Lübke (1893-1987) to interned Polish soldiers and their families (and not only) and the rich correspondence she had with them. Besides an interesting storyline, one can listen to statements by Dr. Czesław Wawrzynika, director of the Museum in 1990-2002, and Krzysztof Krupa, co-author of the book Geprüft. Censored. Philately from 1939-1945 in the collections of the Central Museum of Prisoners-of-War.
The series was prepared by us at the end of 2020, thanks to the "Culture Available" programme, i.e. funding from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. The idea, in accordance with concept of Dr. Violetta Rezler-Wasielewska, was realized by Sławomir Mielnik.
The next, third episode of the series is scheduled for March 29. You are welcome to watch it!
