Academic conference on modern museums is hold in Toruń

Today is approaching the end of a three-day academic conference Modern museum – relations and narrations, organised by the District Museum in Toruń, assisted by the National Institute of Museology and Protection of Collections.

As part of the first edition (20-22 April) of the conferences, whose follow-up editions, starting from 2022, will be held in a biennial cycle, have been delivered nearly forty speeches in two main thematic groups: narrations and relations. Today, in the panel related to the ways in which museums create expressions and stories, in particular through exhibitions or educational activities, the speech, prepared together with Dr. Anna Czerner from the Research Department, is given by Monika Sobczak, M.A., from the Department of Education and Exhibitions. In Behind the scenes - a new educational exhibition at the Central Museum of Prisoners-of-War speech will be presented the difficult process of working out the idea of the exposition and the team's intellectual struggle with its matter and form.

The conference enjoys the honorary patronage of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage and Deputy Prime Minister Piotr Gliński, Marshall of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship,  Piotr Całbecki, and Mayor of Toruń, Michał Zaleski, and is held under the auspices of: the Polish ICOM National Committee, the Polish Museums Association, the Association of Academic Museums, the Association of Engineering Art Museums, and the Forum of Museum Educators.
