A new volume of the 'Sketches from the History of Lamsdorf/Łambinowice Camps…' is on sale
This is already the 7th volume of the scientific journal ‘Sketches from the History of Lamsdorf/Łambinowice Camps. History and the Present Day’ published by the Museum with the aim of making available the results of research, peer-reviews of other works, reports and notes - both on the past of the Site of National Remembrance in Łambinowice and on the activities of museum workers and historians who care about learning and preserving these events in the collective memory.
The latest issue of the ‘Sketches...’ can be purchased in situ, at both Museum locations, or online. It features, among others, several interesting texts on the theme of research conducted since 2022 at the Site of National Remembrance in Łambinowice by a team composed mainly of archaeologists, led by Dr. Dawid Kobiałka. Thanks to them, the reader can become acquainted with the technologies currently used in archaeology, the findings concerning the burials of Italian soldiers at Lamsdorf or the reflections of volunteers working on the ‘Science for Society, Society for Science at the Site of National Remembrance in Łambinowice’ project.
The pages of the periodical also include articles whose authors cover the captivity of Jewish soldiers; the fate of British POWs - in the context of a copy of the Holy Bible belonging to one of them and found in 2023; an analysis of prisoners‘ diaries; and even the memoirs of a camp administration employee, which is an important step towards reconstructing - in relation to the Lamsdorf stalags - the so-called perpetrators’ perspective.
Dr. Kamil Weber (Research Department of the CMJW) was the peer reviewer of the journal, while Professor Tomasz Przerwa from Uwr (University of Wrocław) peer reviewed the submitted texts. The cover was designed by Marek Krajewski, and the proofreading and copy editing was done by Maria Szwed. The print run of the publication is 300 copies.
We encourage you to read it!
