79th anniversary of the arrival of the first transport of Warsaw insurgents to Lamsdorf. Invitation

As every year, we would like to invite you to participate in anniversary commemorations that will take place on 6 October in front of the Monument to the Warsaw Insurgents – POWs of Stalag 344 Lamsdorf. They will mark the historical events that occurred here 79 years ago – it was on 6 October when, after a long and extremely tiring journey, there came to Lamsdorf the first transport of Warsaw insurgents who had been taken prisoners.

For a few more consecutive autumn days, there were coming several transports of insurgents to the camp, but it was this first one, firmly etched in the memory of the prisoners-of-war, that served as the starting point for building around it a message commemorating the captivity of the Home Army soldiers.

The organizers of the commemorations, alongside the Museum, are the Office for War Veterans and Victims of Oppression, the Opole branch of the World Association of Home Army Soldiers, and the Łambinowice Commune. The commemorations enjoy the honorary patronage of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, Prof. Piotr Gliński, the Opole Voivode, Sławomir Kłosowski, and the Marshal of Opole Voivodship, Andrzej Buła, and the media patronage of TVP 3 Opole, "Nowa Trybuna Opolska", Radio Opole S. A., Radio Doxa and "Nowiny Nyskie".

The programme of the event includes: singing national anthem, commemorative speeches, roll call of remembrance, gun salute, and laying of flowers and lighting of candles.
