78th anniversary of the arrival of the first transport of Warsaw Insurgents to Stalag 344 Lamsdorf is approaching

On Thursday, 6 October, will be held a commemoration of the arrival of the first transport of Warsaw Insurgents to Stalag 344 Lamsdorf. Its organisers, alongside our Museum, are the Opole branch of the World Association of Home Army Soldiers, the Office for War Veterans and Victims of Oppression, and the Łambinowice Commune.

The programme of the event, which will begin at 11.00 a.m. in front of the Monument to Warsaw Insurgents – POWs of Stalag 344 Lamsdorf, includes:

  • singing national anthem,
  • commemorative speeches,
  • roll call of remembrance,
  • gun salute,
  • laying of flowers and lighting of candles.

Moreover, at 12.30, in front of the Museum building in Łambinowice, will take place an opening of the exhibition ”The end and the beginning. The Warsaw Insurgents in the German captivity”.

The commemoration enjoys the honorary patronage of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, Prof. Piotr Gliński, the Opole Voivode, Sławomir Kłosowski, and the Marshal of Opole Voivodship, Andrzej Buła, and the media patronage of TVP 3 Opole, "Nowa Trybuna Opolska", Radio Opole S. A., Radio Doxa and "Nowiny Nyskie".

The celebration will be held with the participation of a guard of honour from the 91st Logistics Battalion in Komprachcice.

The coach will depart from the car park in front of "Toropol" on Barlickiego Street in Opole at 9.45 a.m. The coach is scheduled to be back in Opole at 2.00 p.m.
