Wiesław Karliński has passed away

It is with deep sorrow that we received the news on the death of Wiesław Karliński, haiku poet, publicist, traveller, and – as regards our contacts – a tireless voluntary worker, man of interesting ideas which he implemented independent of obstacles that were in the way.

Wiesław, together with his friend Krzysztof Kokot, came to our Museum a few years ago with the proposal of taking part – as a volunteer – in the archaeological works carried out in our Site of Remembrance. During the works he made himself known as a man full of energy and kindness, always ready to assist others. The relationship started then turned out to be exceptional to us.

Wiesław Karliński was a co-author of the reportage on the archaeological works, which was published in Volume 7 of Szkice z dziejów obozów w Lamsdorf/Łambinowicach. Historia i współczesność [Sketches of the history of camps in Lamsdorf/Łambinowice. History and contemporary times] and the volume of haiku poetry Opada mgła [The mist is going down], inspired by his experience of the voluntary work in Łambinowice. He was also one of the guests of Łambinowice Museum Meetings entitled “Only a trace of dreams and desires”.

Hereby, we extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the late Wiesław Karliński.
