The summer with the Museum

Holidays is a perfect time to discover history, and the best way to do so is through experience. We invite organised groups to make use of the summer educational offer which combines sightseeing, workshops and field activities, thus allowing learning about history in a practical manner.

As regards Łambinowice, we have prepared the activity called “Archaeological contention”, during which the participants step into the shoes of archaeologists looking for traces of history in the Site of National Remembrance. The program includes getting acquainted with the archaeologist’s work, as well as duties of the conserver and museologist. It also contains presentation of the most interesting findings and exhibits. The participants have at their disposal bicycles from the Museum hire, too. The activities can be rounded off with refreshments in the fresh air.

As far as our seat in Opole is concerned, we invite all interested to visit the temporary exhibition entitled “All inclusive. The Odyssey of Lieutenant Andres 1939–1947”, devoted to the fate of an officer of the 2nd Polish Corps. The exhibition tells the history of his wartime vicissitudes – from the participation in the Defensive War of 1939, through the camps in Siberia, the combat trail in the Near East, Italy and Great Britain, into his return to Poland after the war. The exhibition is complemented with a workshop in using cyanotype – one of the oldest photographic techniques. During the activities the participants make their own copies inspired by the photographs and history of the hero of the exhibition.

The offer is addressed to organised groups. We accept applications at edukacja@cmjw.pl and by phone: 77 434 34 75 or 573 785 901.
