The summer “Łambinowice Museum Meeting” – archaeology, memory and documentary

Although holidays typically means a break in the cycle of “Łambinowice Museum meetings”, this time we are making an exception. On 1 July, at 17.00, we invite everybody to attend the meeting inaugurating the successive season of archaeological research conducted in Łambinowice Site of Remembrance.

Our guests will be Dr Dawid Kobiałka – archaeologist, researcher in the difficult heritage and head of the scientific schemes carried out in Łambinowice, and Daniel Frymark – photographer, creator of documentary films, who has been documenting archaeological works for many years. They have a lot in common: joint projects, sites of conducting research and sensitivity to traces of the past. The outcome of their cooperation is a moving story about discovering history hidden under the ground.

During the meeting the participants will be shown a film by Daniel Frymark, which demonstrates everyday work of archaeologists, anthropologists, historians and volunteers carrying out research works in Łambinowice. The meeting will also offer an opportunity to sum up the results of the works to date, which have been done since 2022, as well as to talk about the discoveries made at the stages concluded so far.

An important item of the event will be a presentation of the new project realized by the Association of Friends of CMJW in cooperation with the Museum. Its aim is to locate and verify the unmarked and today already illegible burial places of POWs of World War II in the Old Cemetery and its environs, particularly those of Polish soldiers who took part in the September Campaign of 1939 and the Warsaw Uprising of 1944.

You are welcome to join us!
