The National Day of Remembrance of the Home Army Soldiers

Last Saturday, Dr Piotr Stanek, the Head of the Research Department, represented our Museum at the ceremony commemorating heroes of the Polish Independence Underground.

The National Day of Remembrance of the Home Army Soldiers, falling on 14 February – on the anniversary of establishing the Home Army in 1942 – was decreed by Parliament of the Polish Republic in 2025 as an expression of tribute to soldiers of the Polish Underground State.

In Opole, the ceremony took place in front of the Monument of Home Army Soldiers, situated in the vicinity of the Church of the Transfiguration. The honorary guest of the event was Helena Kamerska, nom de guerre “Halina” – participant of the Warsaw Rising, soldier of the Home Army, a friend to our Museum.

The celebration was organized by Opole Voivodeship Office and the World Association of Home Army Soldiers.
