The Museum in the programme “Universal designing of culture – accessibility in institutions of culture

Building an accessible and open institution of culture is a process which goes beyond mere preparing an offer for various groups of receivers. It also comprises actions aimed at creating an inclusive work environment, including supporting employment of persons with specific needs.

It is just for this reason that our Museum joined in the programme called “Universal designing of culture – accessibility in institutions of culture”, coordinated by the National Centre for Culture and implemented in cooperation with the State Fund for the Rehabilitation of the Disabled (PFRON).

At the moment we are taking part in Task Two, that is a programme of preparation for internships, traineeships, voluntary service and employment of people with disabilities in institutions of culture, which consists in participation in a cycle of training courses. They offer to the team of our Museum employees a chance to raise their competences within the scope of accessibility and designing actions responding to the needs of different social groups. Particular emphasis is laid on practical solutions, such as organization of internships, practices or voluntary work in a way that takes into account principles of equal access.

The obtained knowledge and experience will be vitally supportive in developing the Museum’s activity so that it should remain a friendly place, open and accessible to all.

More about the programme is available on the website of the National Centre for Culture (link).
