The Monument dedicated to the Warsaw Insurgents has been renovated!

The conservation and restoration works around the Monument to the Warsaw Insurgents – POWs of Stalag 344 Lamsdrof at the Site of National Remembrance in Łambinowice, have been completed. The funds were provided by the IPN’s Bureau for the Protection of Struggle and Martyrdom.

The works consisted, among others, necessary repairs to the cement core of the socle, clearing the stone and the cross on the top of it, impregnating these elements, as well as laying a new surface around the monument and plantings new trees and shrubs around it.

Let us remind you that the monument is dedicated to about 6 thousand of Warsaw insurgents (almost one third of the total number of insurgents taken prisoner by the Germans) who, in October 1944, were sent to Stalag 344 Lamsdor (Łambinowice).

The works were initiated by the Museum and with approval of the Conservator of Monuments of  the Opole Province. These were the first conducted works since the monument was erected in 1997.

We would like to express our gratitude to the Institute of National Remembrance.
