The last weekend with archaeology in Łambinowice
Already these coming Saturday and Sunday (13 and 14 July) we are holding the last open weekend this season, as part of the project entitled “Lamsdorf/Łambinowice. The archaeology of memory”. This time it will be possible to visit the archaeological site in the Old POW Cemetery in Łambinowice.
The research work that has been in progress since 30 June has been carried out under the supervision of Dr Dawid Kobiałka. Its aim is to further learn about and document the history of the place in connection with the German prisoner-of-war camps established here during World War 2. The research makes the continuation of the interdisciplinary project called “Science for society. Society for science at the Site of National Remembrance in Łambinowice”, which proved successful two years ago by making the significant discovery of, among others, burial places of Italian POWs from Stalag 344 Lamsdorf.
During the open weekends, visitors get an unrepeatable and genuine chance to not only watch archaeologists at work, but also talk directly to the members of the research team. The last ‘Weekend with archaeology’ that took place last week generated a lot of interest and met with most positive reception on the part of members of the local community.
This weekend’s event will be held in the Old POW Cemetery in Łambinowice on 13–14 July 2025 (Saturday-Sunday) between 8.00 and 15.00. Participation in it is free of charge.
We heartily recommend taking the opportunity of meeting real history!
