“Such a love doesn’t happen” – the premiere of the third season of the cycle “…yet this is a different story”

We have inserted on the YouTube museum channel the premiere episode of the third season of the documentary series “…yet this is a different story”. The film which bears the title “Such a love doesn’t happen” opens the new edition of the cycle and once again draws from museum collections as the starting point of the plot.

The story begins in Jeżyce, a district of Poznań, where a typical living in the neighbourhood transforms into a close relationship between two young people: Irena Woźniewska and 2nd Lieutenant Jan Lewandowski. Their plans are brutally broken in September 1939: the war, fights against German aggressor, captivity and many-year-long separation. Despite the dramatic circumstances, their affection survives, finding its expression in the correspondence run by the couple in love with each other.

The axis of the film narrative is the collection of letters written on POW letterforms, which are part of the collection of our Museum. Romantic confessions, full of longing, had already provided an inspiration to create the exhibition called “I love you, see you later…”. This time, they offered the basis for creating a moving film plot that shows personal dimensions of a wartime history.

We sincerely invite everybody to see the film inserted below. The premiere of the next episode is planned for March.
