Nomination won in the contest “Mister of Architecture of Opole Voivodeship”
On 8 October, in the Gallery of Modern Art in Opole, the verdict of the jury of the contest “Mister of Architecture of Opole Voivodeship” was announced. After a few-year-break, the competition was reactivated. Its organizer, Opole Branch of the Association of Polish Architects, chose the best architectonic objects in the Voivodeship. The gala was attended by Małgorzata and Andrzej Zatwarnicki and Director of the Museum Dr Violetta Rezler-Wasielewska.
This year, designers’ achievements of the years 2017–2024 were evaluated, including that submitted by Małgorzata and Andrzej Zatwarnicki of “Architop” Office – “Reconstruction and extension of the building of the Central Museum of Prisoners of War in Łambinowice, situated at 4 Muzealna Street”. The architects’ approach to the challenge which, undoubtedly, transformation of the Łambinowice seat of the Museum was, met with appreciation of the jury: the design was granted a nomination.
Let us remind that the realization of the project covered a change of the image of the Museum in such a way as to invest the object – as the architects emphasized themselves – with “features of seriousness, monumentality and at the same time – friendliness and openness of the place to visitors who come to commemorate events of the past, while preserving a minimalistic but formally clear composition.”
The entries for the competition to win the title of the most interesting design of the years 2017–2024 covered a number of different projects such as: arrangements of interiors of institutions of culture, detached houses, reconstructions of urban squares, educational institutions or sports-facilities. The event was accompanied by the exhibition organized at the Gallery of Modern Art in Opole on 1 October, which was a retrospective presentation of the history of the Contest aimed to bring it closer to the public and show the nomination winning works.
