Lecture delivered at the Historical-Sightseeing Tourism Uni for Seniors

As part of the activity of the Historical-Sightseeing Tourism Uni for Seniors, run by social activist and propagator of knowledge Tadeusz Jacek Rogoża, on 19 September, the lecture under the title “Love dated 1939–1945. Four happy histories and one very sad one” was delivered at the House of Day Care “Malinka” in Opole.

The lecture prepared by Dr Anna Czerner and Dr Kamila Weber developed the themes that were explored in the temporary exhibition entitled “I love you, so long …”. Its aim was to not only interest the listeners in histories of selected couples divided by wartime captivity, but also to sketch a situation in which they found themselves: on the one hand – men taken captive and on the other one – lonesome women forced to depend on their own strength and resourcefulness. Therefore, in the first part of the lecture, the authors focused on presenting key difficulties that two persons who were close to each other had to overcome in order to save their love and manage to endure hardships together until the moment of regaining long-awaited freedom.

The presentation by our colleagues enjoyed great interest – the listeners did not only follow its development with concentration, but themselves shared their family histories of the time of war as well as thoughts on the universal nature of love. The whole event passed in a pleasant and intimate atmosphere. At the end of it the speakers were presented with commemorative gifts by Head of the House of Day Care “Malinka”, Katarzyna Sawicka.

We thank the organizers for the invitation!
