It will be possible to carry on the archaeological works in Łambinowice!
We are pleased to inform that the Association of Friends to the Central Museum of Prisoners of War has obtained a subsidy from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage to accomplish the third stage of the archaeological research at the Site of National Remembrance in Łambinowice.
The project entitled “The Forest of the Dead? Searching for graves of Prisoners of War at the Site of National Remembrance” has been awarded a grant at the amount of PLN 150,000 from the reserve of the programme launched by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and run under the title “Graves and war cemeteries in the country – redecoration, research, educational works 2026”.
The obtained means will enable us to continue the research that has been conducted by the Museum since 2022 with the aim to locate unknown places of burial of POWs who died during World War II, including graves of Polish POWs – soldiers of Polish Defensive War of 1939 and Warsaw Insurgents.
Below we present a documentary film by Daniel Frymark, recording the latest stage of the works carried out by the team of archaeologists led by Dr Dawid Kobiałka.
You are kindly welcome to watch it!
