Invitation to the commemoration in front of the Monument to the Warsaw Insurgents – POWs of Stalag 344 Lamsdorf

The 77th anniversary commemoration of the arrival of the first transport of Warsaw insurgents to Stalag 344 Lamsdorf are approaching. The ceremony, which will take place on October 6, will be attended by Krzysztof Marcinkiewicz, President of the Opole District Board of The World Association of Home Army Soldiers, Jan Józef Kasprzyk, Head of the Office for War Veterans and Victims of Oppression, Tomasz Karpiński, Mayor of Łambinowice Community, and Violetta Rezler-Wasielewska, Director of the Central Museum of Prisoners-of-War.

The programme of the event, which will begin at 11.00 a.m. in front of the Monument to Warsaw Insurgents – POWs of Stalag 344 Lamsdorf, includes:

  • singing national anthem,
  • commemorative speeches,
  • roll call of remembrance,
  • gun salute,
  • laying of flowers and lighting of candles.

Moreover, at 12.00 a.m. will commence a webinar, based on the film Lamsdorf Station. The Warsaw insurgents in captivity, to which school pupils from various parts of Poland have been invited. It will be moderated by Mirosław Basaj, director of the film, and the Museum employees, Dr. Anna Czerner and Dr. Piotr Stanek.

The commemoration is hold under the honorary patronage of the Minister of Culture, National Heritage and Sport, Prof. Piotr Gliński, the Opole Voivode, Adrian Czubak, and, the Marshal of Opole Voivodship, Andrzej Bula, as well as, under the media patronage of "Nowa Trybuna Opolska", Radio Opole S. A., Radio Doxa and "Nowiny Nyskie".

The celebrations will be held with the participation of a guard of honour from the 10th Logistics Brigade in Opole.

ATTENTION!

On the day of the commemoration we provide free transport from Opole to Łambinowice and back. The coach will depart from the car park in front of "Toropol" on Barlickiego Street at 9.45 a.m. The coach's approximate time of arrival in Opole is 1.00 p.m.
