Invitation to the anniversary celebration on 6 October

First, it was Warsaw, then Ożarów, goods wagons and the road to Lamsdorf – on 6 October 1944, the first transport of Warsaw Insurgents arrived in this place.

For almost six thousand people – soldiers, women and minors – it was Lamsdorf where the POW chapter of their wartime biographies began. For many of them, Stalag 344 Lamsdorf was just one of the stages on their further road to German POW camps.

On the 82nd anniversary of the event, we will meet in Łambinowice to recall the POW vicissitudes of the Home Army soldiers. The celebration begins on 6 October at 11.00 o’clock am in front of the Monument of Warsaw Insurgents – POWs of Stalag 344 Lamsdorf. The program includes laying flowers, lighting candles, as well as the Remembrance Appeal.

After the main celebration, we invite the present to visit the Museum where the exhibition entitled “Heroines among Heroes” is presented. It was prepared by the Institute of National Remembrance, Branch in Warsaw. This is a tale of women who took part in the Warsaw Rising, and following its fall – became prisoners of war in German camps.

Therefore, on 6 October we shall go back to the history that had its beginnings here over eight decades ago!

We invite everybody to join us.
