Dr Piotr Stanek participates in a popular-scientific session in Krakow
On the occasion of the 19th Celebration of the Days of Remembrance of the Gestapo Victims, taking place under the auspices of the Voivode of Małopolskie Voivodeship, Krzysztof J. Klęczar, and Director of Department of the Institute of National Remembrance in Krakow, Dr hab. Filip Musiał, between 12 and 15 September, Krakow History Museum organizes events commemorating citizens of the City – victims of the Nazi and the Communist totalitarian regimes.
A significant element of the celebration, in which we took part, being represented by Head of the Scientific Department, Dr Piotr Stanek – was the popular-scientific session hosted by Bartosz Heksel, Head of Oskar Schindler’s Enamel Factory, a department of Krakow Museum. The session was opened by Dr Michał Niezabitowski, Director of Krakow Museum. Then, the participants discussed issues such as: searching for lost persons in 1945, the circumstances of the Red Army’s entering Krakow, fates of Krakow’s citizens imprisoned in the Gestapo station based in Zakopane, trials of Nazi criminals or investigations carried out by the Krakow Branch of the Institute of National Remembrance. Our colleague, Piotr Stanek, delivered his paper under the title “Lamsdorf/Łambinowice – a place with the double past. Krakow-related motifs”.
The celebration of the Days of Remembrance of the Gestapo Victims will come to an end on Monday. The program offers a great number of interesting events that are worth participating in. We encourage everybody interested to do so and want to thank the Organizers for inviting us to take part in this event which is truly vital for keeping the societal memory!
