Calendar for the year 2026 issued by the Museum

On the occasion of the jubilee of 60 years of its activity, our Museum has issued a calendar – for the first time in the form of a book. The logo of the calendar makes reference to the thematic area dealt with by the Museum through universal thoughts drawn from POWs’ accounts and memoirs, as well as the accompanying histories.

Each month in the calendar is distinguished by an individual motto – genuine words of one of many thousand POWs in the time of World War 2. Such a treatment makes conscious moving along the path of the development of our image, which was adopted several years ago, one that is present on many planes – from visual identification of both our seats, through publications, into museal gifts. The calendar has an untypical, square format and an open spine – the solution which is used also in other publications of our Museum. The details, in a discreet way, make the calendar distinctive and, at the same time, invest the whole with minimalistic, austere, yet light a style. For instance, instead of colourful photos there were used black-and-white typographies of the above-mentioned mottos as well as a simple cardboard cover.

The conception of the calendar was elaborated by Director of the Museum, Dr Violetta Rezler-Wasielewska; the texts were written by Dr Anna Czerner, while the selection of sources was made by Anna Chłądzyńska-Gądek. The graphic design was prepared by Widok Studio of Krakow and printing was the responsibility of SINDRUK. The calendars have already been sent with seasonal greetings to many people who cooperate with our Museum. Soon, they will also be available on sale both onsite and online.
