An anniversary of the outbreak of the Warsaw Rising: an invitation to a gesture of remembrance
On the eve of the 81st anniversary of the outbreak of the Warsaw Rising we cordially invite everybody to participate in a joint commemoration of the event in the place marked by the presence of about six thousand Insurgents – POWs detained at Stalag 344 Lamsdorf.
Like every year, on 1 August, we join the masses of Polish women and men who commemorate the Warsaw Insurgents all over the country on this very special day. We will meet at the Site of National Remembrance in Łambinowice, in front of the well-known monument featuring the symbolic Anchor of Fighting Poland and the inscription reminding about the captivity of the soldiers of the Warsaw Uprising: men, women and children. At 11.00 o’clock we will lay flowers, light candles and bow to the Insurgents at the monument dedicated to them.
At the same time, we want to remind that the main ceremony is traditionally organized on 6 October, marking the day of the arrival of the first transport with the Insurgents at Stalag 344 Lamsdorf.
