On 1 September, on the 87^th anniversary of the outbreak of World War 2, Łambinowice will host a successive edition of the series of concerts under the title “A Prayer of Peace”. St Mary Magdalene Church will be the venue of the concert of “Worship songs by Franciszek Karpiński” performed by Monika Horodek and the Choral Society of Starosielsk.

The series “A prayer of Peace” was initiated by our Museum in 2019. Each year we organise a concert at St Mary Magdalene Church in Łambinowice – the temple which the POWs of Lamsdorf were looking at in the times of wars, praying for survival in captivity, regaining freedom and a happy returning homes.

During this year’s concert we will hear “Worship songs” by Franciszek Karpiński – pieces which since the 18^th century have been accompanying successive generations of Poles and which carry the universal message of hope, peace and community. Performed by Monika Horodek and the Choral Society of Starosielsk, they will have the form that combines traditional instruments and contemporary sounds. The music will be complemented with fragments of Karpiński’s diaries read out.

The event will take place on 1 September 2026 (Tuesday) at 18.00. Admission is free. We kindly invite everybody to participate!
