“A Prayer of Peace” on the 87th anniversary of the outbreak of World War 2
Walls put up in an act of respecting God’s will remember more than one generation. Definitely, a building that reflects the truth of the above sentence well is St Mary Magdalene Church in Łambinowice. For years it used to be passed by by Prisoners of War detained in the camps of Lamsdorf. To many of them it was the only point of reference outside the barbed wires surrounding the camp – a place towards which they directed their thoughts, prayers and longing for home.
On the 87th anniversary of the outbreak of World War 2, on 1 September 2026, at 6 p.m., St Mary Magdalene Church in Łambinowice will be the venue of the concert “A prayer of Peace" which our Museum invites everybody to attend. The event was initiated by us in 2019 and since that time has offered an opportunity to pause together to ponder over the histories of people whose lives were marked by the war.
During the concert we will listen to music dedicated to the memory of Prisoners of War as well as all victims of military conflicts. We cordially invite everybody to join us in the commemoration of the anniversary and reflection on the fates of those who – against their will – were kept behind the camp wires.
