A call for papers: the "Łambinowice Museum Yearbook"

The editors of the flagship journal published by the CMJW announce a call for texts for the 48th volume. The leading theme of the volume will be the subject dictated by the anniversary year, as we are waiting for papers and memoirs about the closing period of the Second World War. We are interested both in the final phase of captivity and the liberation of successive prisoner-of-war camps.

Owing to the fact that in 2025 we mark the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, it has motivated the editors of the ‘Łambinowice Museum Yearbook’ to pay closer attention to such issues as, among others: the state of mind of the prisoners expecting the imminent coming of the culmination of the war and the preparations that were made for it in the camps (both by the detained soldiers and the military personnel), the organisation and course of the evacuations of stalags and oflags, including the fate of participants in those particularly tragic events, such as the so-called ‘death marches’, and waiting for the advancing westwards front, living conditions in the final months of captivity (and the chances of surviving to see their liberation), the relationship between prisoners-of-war and, having a sense of foreboding, the camp staff. Also of interest is a vast scope of issues related to the decisions made by the former Wehrmacht prisoners, who had to determine as rationally as possible whether they should risk returning to their homeland (and thus a possible confrontation with the NKVD), emigrate to the West, or to remain in the place of their liberation.

The guideline for authors can be found here. Please read it carefully, and if you have any doubts about the conception of your text, we encourage you to get in direct contact with the editors to clarify it. Maria Bula from the CMJW’s Research Department is the primary contact person: m.bula@cmjw.pl. We are waiting for the texts ready for review until 30 August 2025 as we schedule the printing of the new volume for the first quarter of 2026.

The Yearbook is on the list of scholarly journals of the Ministry of Education and Science. Publication in it gives 40 points in scientific output. You'll find it well worth your while to publish your item here! And not only because of the points: the journal is thoroughly peer-reviewed, very carefully prepared for printing and has a good circulation.
