The collections of the Central Museum of Prisoners-of-War in Łambinowice-Opole include, primarily, all kinds of items connected with POWs, especially the Polish ones interned during the Second World War. The collections, which have been carefully accumulated for years, belong to the most valuable and the largest in Poland. The exhibits have mainly been donated by former POWs and their families, as well as obtained from various institutions and organi-zations.

The Museum collections comprise archival materials and museum exhibits, as well as a collection of books. The archival items and the book collection are taken care of by the De-partment of Documentation and by the Library, both based in Opole, whereas the museum exhibits remain in the care of the Department of Collections and Conservation, with its seat in Łambinowice. The archival materials and the museum exhibits are available to researchers upon their obtaining a written permission from the Director of the Museum.

We appeal to all who still have in their possession any items connected with Prisoners-of-War to kindly forward them to our Museum. We shall extend specialist care over the exhibits, which will be a valuable remnant of the time of captivity.
