• Lessons and museum prelections
    are devoted primarily to the vicissitudes of POWs during World War 2 and the history of the camps in Lamsdorf/Łambinowice in the years 1870-1946. During the activities we make use of activating methods and we reach for a variety of didactic means, which guarantees their interesting course. Lessons and prelections are realized free of charge at both seats of the Museum, at schools and other cultural and educational institutions in the area of Opole Province.
  • Permanent and temporary exhibitions in the Museum
    We invite everybody to visit the Site of National Remembrance in Łambinowice. Both the Museum and the Site can be visited individually or together with organized groups, on one’s own or accompanied by a guide from the Museum. We also propose to see our permanent and temporary exhibitions of varied thematic areas. There is a possibility of taking the latter on loan and presenting them outside the Museum, among others, in schools.
  • Getting to know the Site of National Remembrance in Łambinowice
    takes place during a few-hour-long tour (on foot or on a bike) of the history-nature path or during one-, two-, or three-day study visits, whose programs are created together with participants. The aim of the activity is to deepen the knowledge of World War 2 and the POW subject matter.
  • History and art workshops
    are organized during exhibitions, in the Museum archive and library, as well as in the area of the Site of Remembrance. They last one or two days, serving the purpose of, among others, creative expressing of individual feelings, thoughts and evaluations. While running the workshops, we pay special attention to developing the skill of critical thinking and the ability to interpret historical sources. The subjects realized during the classes are selected individually and adapted to the needs of concrete groups of participants.
  • Meetings with witnesses to events
    facilitate gaining an insight into and understanding of the history of the 20th century, thanks to getting acquainted with individual instances of vicissitudes. The histories told by witnesses to events relate, among others, to the mechanisms of functioning of the Nazism and Communism, behaviors of people entangled in the cogs of war, complicated nationalistic and ethnic relations in borderland, as well as the relation between history and remembrance.
  • Conferences, sessions, scientific and popular-science seminars
    are devoted to the problem area of World War 2 and its effects, particularly in the POW-related context. Their chief aim is to disseminate the newest findings of specialists in various domains of knowledge.
  • Educational sessions designed for teachers
    make a form of vocational training and a forum of exchanging views on subjects connected with historical and regional education. There are also museum educational materials prepared by educators-theoreticians and practicians.
  • Contests
    have been organized systematically for many years. The many-year experience, interesting formula and valuable prizes cause them to enjoy popularity with students and teachers. Competitions provide one of the methods of educational work carried out by the Museum: they preserve remembrance, teach sensitivity and tolerance, stimulate social activity.
  • Publications
    comprise: scientific and popular-science publications, catalogues, guides, handbooks and documentary-educational films. All the museum publications are prepared on the basis of research on the POW systems functioning during World War 2 and studies in the history of the post-war camps in Opole Silesia.
  • Rendering accessible museum and library collections
    The Museum renders available its collections on the spot to people interested in problems of war and captivity. We also conduct queries which consist in searching for information, documents and museum items connected with the POW subject matter, including vicissitudes of POWs.
